Overview

The Learn Academy is looking for a Part-Time fully licensed Mental Health Therapist for for our location in Redwood City, CA.

 

Part-time hourly position, up to 20 hours per week, with potential to move to full time.

 

 

The Learn Academy, "formerly Creative Learning Center", is a state-certified, K-12 private day school in California for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurological disorders.  

  

Our comprehensive services — available across the South Bay, Peninsula, and San Francisco Bay Area — are designed to meet the unique needs of the whole student. We are a division of the LEARN Academy, a national leader in special education, academic intervention, and behavioral services for autism.

Responsibilities

In this position, you'll join a school-based special education team, which works with school districts to deliver the highest-quality special education services to students with special needs.  

 

The Mental Health Therapist will be responsible for:

  • DIS Counseling: Provide counseling focused on social/emotional issues impacting academic progress, long-term goals, and independent living skills.
  • Crisis Intervention: Offer support for high-risk students during crisis situations and help develop and implement safety plans.
  • Consultation/Referral: Collaborate with school staff, families, and outside professionals to address school-related problems, participate in IEP meetings, coordinate parent meetings, and make referrals to community resources.
  • Developmental/Preventative Guidance: Provide guidance for students to support developmental and preventative care.
  • WAVES Program Oversight: Help manage the WAVES Behavior Modification Program, setting individualized goals for students based on their IEP.
  • Behavior Support Plans: Monitor and create behavior support plans as needed.
  • WAVES Privileges: Assist teachers in administering privileges tied to the WAVES program.
  • Curriculum Integration: Support educational staff in incorporating counseling elements into curricula and community activities. 

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as an MFT, LCSW, or Educational Psychologist.
  • Strong communication skills in working with adolescents, staff, families, and public.
  • Knowledge of school-based and community resources, particularly in mental health, social services, and education.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.

Compensation Range
